I'ont understand why they trippin if you ask me.

Favorite performance of the night. Keri kilt 'em.

If you have any hint of melanin in your skin, then you've probably seen the BET Awards by now. Yeah, there were some things that could've been better and some parts where I had no idea what was going on, but overall I definitely enjoyed myself and applaud BET for putting together the show that they did so last minute with the recent death of Michael Jackson. Sometimes we as black people get so caught up in criticizing things like this and focusing on the negative aspects (especially when it's BET), but I think for what it was worth I appreciated the show and how they paid tribute to the King of music. (And y'all KNOW how I feel about BET).

On another note, The BET awards opened my eyes to the effectiveness of Twitter and why it can be so entertaining. It was definitely a party goin' on. People kept things fun with all the comments and observations on there and the celebrity tweets from the awards and tweet pics were pretty cool. Tweet of the night:
@AndAllThatJas ....RT @whereUatRO: I wish BET died and Michael Jackson did a tribute to them.
Word. What did y'all think about the Awards?

I'm lovin the title sequences bro! That's hot.

As far as the show...if you only take it for comedic and entertainment value...i thought it was amazing. especially after they changed so much of their show at the last minute, even though some people should NOT have changed it...*sorry CiCi*...

as an awards show...on BET at that...yea it was awful. lol. I think they named the nominees for like 3 of the awards. and wtf was Ving Rhames doin up there actin like a drunk uncle? Lil wayne was awful. T-Pain is just one huge epic fail in general. It was basically the Boondocks in real life.

Highlights: Johnny Gill, Tyrese and Trey Songz for the O'Jay's tribute, Ne-Yo, Taraji P. Henson, Jamie Foxx, D.O.A. performance, BBD and Guy coming out on stage, New Boyz performing You're A Jerk *yea that was on the pre-show but I'm West Coast all day...it was poppin'!*, KeKe Palmer, Monica, Maxwell, Janet Jackson's heart-wrenching speech, the MJ memories, the twitter party thanks to the BET awards, and Taraji P. Henson!! *yes I said it twice*

Epic Fails: Lil Wayne and dem's performance, Ving Rhames, Don Cornelius, Tiny, Keith Sweat, Bobby Brown, Alicia Keys valiant attempt to have everyone send that text message and donate $5, Joe Jackson, T-Pain and his red Dixie cup, and BET's ability to censor.

i was thinking the same about the title sequences lol.

i thought the show was a nice attempt since they put the tribute together in such a short amount of time, but all of the foolishness really took away from it.

janet's speech was by far the best part of the show. i also really liked jamie foxx & ne-yo's rendition of "ill be there"

i wasnt feelin beyonce's performance, especially after i realized she was really gonna sing "ave maria" the whole time, but jay-z killed it. love the song. loved the performance =)

LOL at bet's ability to censor. ridiculous! and how about almost all of lil wayne's verse being silence bc it was so vulgar. great...
